Eriri's loud banters and complaints then Utaha's silent yet logical answers were entertaining to watch. It's ridiculous and never have I thought it was annoying. They mesh together very well and their dynamic was one of the reasons, too, why I watched SaeKano. Simply because of how they interact with each other - especially Eriri (the blonde) and Utaha (best girl/the possessive girl). Now, I mentioned that I didn't mind the girls of the show. I mean, how would the author of SaeKano (light novel) handle her character if she's this… boring? That was perhaps what makes me go watch SaeKano until the end to see how the cast (or the author, technically) will raise this boring girl into a great, loveable heroine. And as someone who's never seen that kind of trope in a harem anime show, I was honestly impressed. This girl is plain and dull, she doesn't have any redeeming qualities other than her "changes every now and then" hairstyles. However, though, a different girl breaks these tropes. I will explain that certain reason later. Even with these "you see everyday" tropes, I, for a certain reason, didn't mind it. The SaeKano cast consists of a blonde girl who denies her feelings to the protagonist or in short, a tsundere, the perfect, silent girl who is actually possessive when it comes to the protagonist and a cheerful girl whom we don't know whether she has feelings and likes playing with the protagonist. The girls starred in SaeKano are the typical, common tropes seen in most harem anime (or manga) shows recently. "Ahhh - it was that fateful encounter… under the raining cherry blossoms" However, it turns out that she's just a plain girl… Together with his recruits and the plain girl, they do their best and write the most romantic visual novel for Winter Comiket! While he tries to recruit people, he meets the girl whom he had a "fateful encounter" with - the girl whom he thought was a wonderful, beautiful lady. This encounter inspires him to make his own visual novel - thus he tries to recruit some of his acquaintances that'll help him make so. The protagonist, Tomoya, had this "fateful encounter" with a girl at the top of the hill on a spring day. The story of SaeKano is simple and not hard to follow. It's not exactly the best anime ever made, it doesn't have a good story nor depth characters but… I still liked it. Hey! Hikikomorei makes another blog again and this time, it's about SaeKano! The second season of SaeKano started airing recently and thought that I might as well make a review (sorta) about it.
